9-1-1: Lone Star promo: First look at Rob Lowe spin-off series

911 season 2

9-1-1: Lone Star has been quietly in production for a while now and today, we come bearing good news: The first promo! This is a spin-off series coming in the new year, and the obvious hope is that it’s going to deliver the same sort of entertainment that you’ve come to expect from the main show itself.

At the center of this series, much like the original show, is a big star. This time around, it’s Rob Lowe — the actor of many things is playing the role here of Owen Strand, a Manhattan firefighter who relocates to Austin in order to help a firehouse in need. Meanwhile, this cast also includes Lord of the Rings alum Liv Tyler playing the role of chief paramedic Michelle Blake, someone who is haunted by her past but also very skilled at her job.

Is there going to be a craving out there in the world for more of 9-1-1 as a franchise? That is one of the questions that we’re going to be seeing an answer to before long. It was a no-brainer as to why Fox would want to greenlight this, given that we are talking about a spin-off for one of their most-popular series. Also, it comes courtesy of executive producer Ryan Murphy, one of the best in the business. With Murphy now over at Netflix under an overall deal, the only real way to continue utilizing his talent is by spinning off the show that is already at the network. They are making the most of what they have.

Are we going to get a chance to see 9-1-1: Lone Star do some sort of crossover with the flagship show? We’ll admit that the question is already on our mind, though it may be some time still before we get some sort of firm update on that subject. Let’s just see how the new show performs before we start to see any further expectations projected onto the future.
