“Tough Love” – As part of their second phase of training, the rookies are asked to develop their first confidential informants. Officer Nolan soon discovers that no two informants are the same and struggles with his newest task. Meanwhile, Officer Chen’s mother complicates her home life when she comes to stay with her on “The Rookie,” airing SUNDAY, OCT. 27 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC. (TV-14, V) Episodes can also be viewed the next day on ABC.com, the ABC app and Hulu.
It doesn’t really take a whole lot of effort in order to see as to why this particular mission would be challenging. Just think about it in this sense — informants can be uncooperative at times, given mostly that they often what whatever they want. Because of this very thing, you have to treat all of them differently. Not only that, but some of them are going to be interested in challenging you to see what they can get away with.
While there is a certain part of police-work that is very much physical, we also think that there is a strong mental component to it, as well. This is something that social be very much echoed and shown off throughout this episode as you watch some of these characters take on their assorted struggles. If you can work informants and handle them properly, you have a better chance of moving up the ranks. Our assumption is that many of these characters, eventually, want to end up higher up on the force.
In the end, we know that we’re far from the end of the season — with that in mind, there are only going to be many more struggles in the weeks and months to come.
