The Affair season 5 episode 9 sneak peek: Helen gets questioned

In the sneak peek below, we have a chance to see the aftermath of the phone call that Helen received from the reporter Petra at the end of this past episode. We know that originally Noah thought that this Vanity Fair story was going to be all about redemption; yet, what it’s become instead is a story about some transgressions of his past. Petra apparently talked with Helen about some of their divorce, but also a little bit about his dating history at the same exact time.
Helen’s concern at the moment is very much real — she’s worried about this becoming a story within the Me Too era, and one that could end up hurting the life of Helen or Noah’s kids. He denies that this is going to be a big issue … but we already know a little bit better. Noah’s problem has always been hubris and his ability that he’ll somehow come out on top. We have a very hard time imagining that this is going to happen here in this case if things keep going the way in which they are.
If you are Helen, you have to recognize at this point that things are not going well. The moment that Noah mentions his legal team — one that could eventually kill the story potentially — that is a big-time red flag. That’s a sign that he is diminishing what could be a big problem and she needs to be prepared. We foresee this being a huge component in this episode … to go along with a number of other big emotional stuff.
