American Horror Story: 1984 episode 6 promo: 100th episode chaos
The fact that this episode is entitled “Episode 100” makes us wonder a lot about a number of different things, and that includes this oh-so-simple question: Are we gearing up for an episode that ties this season to some others? We know that executive producer Ryan Murphy loves to do this, especially since there are so many viewers who started out in season 1 and are still around, checking the franchise out now.

You could make the argument that characters like Brooke, Xavier, and Montana are somehow connected to people we see in later seasons … and maybe they also have secret ties to those we’ve seen on Freak Show and Asylum in the past. Some of that could be explored — hey, aren’t Mr. Jingles and Twisty the Clown cut from the same cloth, or at least played by the same actor? If there are no physical ties established between this season and ones that aired previously, you could at least craft a situation where there are some thematic ties and sensibilities.
Of course, while we say all of this we’d also like to remind the writers of this: Exercise caution. Don’t do something crazy just for the sake of doing it, since the more that you do that, the more likely you end up with a season similar to American Horror Story: Hotel. That season was so bizarre and over-stuffed that, in retrospect, it still feels like the weakest iteration of the franchise to date.
