“Athena Begins” is going to be 9-1-1 season 3 episode 7, and it also just so happens to be one of the episodes we’ve been most looking forward to seeing.
Why is that? A lot of it has to do with 9-1-1 and their tendency to deliver some powerful stories all within the “Begins” banner. Amidst all of the present-day storylines we get, we also have opportunities to learn more about some of these characters’ pasts. Bobby, Chimney, and Hen are among the characters to get these big episodes already, and let’s make it clear that we’re very curious to see where the story is going to unfold now when it comes to Angela Bassett’s character.
Want a few more details? Then be sure to check out the official 9-1-1 season 3 episode 7 synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below:
When a murder weapon from a case close to Athena in the early ’90s resurfaces, flashbacks to 1989 show how Athena joined the LAPD and became the police officer she is today in the all-new “Athena Begins” episode of 9-1-1 airing Monday, Nov. 4 (8:00-9:01 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (NIN-304) (TV-14 D, L, V)
What we’re hoping to get out of this episode more so than anything else is a greater sense of clarity about what drives her as a person to want to continue to be a part of the police department. Think about it — she’s been a part of the force for almost three decades, and we gotta imagine that in that time, she’s taken on a lot of stuff and dealt with a number of tremendous hardships. It’s a lot for any one character to take on and yet, she’s found her way, time and time again, to rise above it. She’s also managed to still find a way to have a personal life in the process — she’s done well for a cop, especially in a city like Los Angeles that can be so dangerous. This story should prove to be a worthwhile look at how exactly she got to this point.
