One of the elements that does make season 3 so interesting is that you have a superhero origin story of sorts with Jennifer going parallel to everything that we know with Black Lightning himself. He’s been doing this a long time, but that doesn’t mean that he always knows best. That’s without even considering the element of governmental oversight and some of the themes of oppression and citizens living in the dark that we’ve got going on this season.

Sure, Black Lightning is a superhero show, but it should be very clear at this point that there’s a whole lot going on here beyond just that.
