Is Insatiable renewed for season 3, canceled at Netflix? New odds

Is Insatiable renewed for a season 3 at Netflix, or should we expect the Debby Ryan series to be canceled sooner rather than later? Within this piece, we want to do whatever we can in order to map out the current state of the series.

The first thing that we’ll say is this: Was this really the right time to premiere Insatiable? Netflix decided to premiere it the same exact day as El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, and if we had to guess, the latter is going to totally overshadow the former. In general, there hasn’t been too much in the way of promotion for Insatiable season 2 in the first place. Netflix’s strategy is often to wait until the very last second to push the future of their shows hard, and while that may work in some ways, they are really banking on the last-minute efforts working. We’re not sure that it really will here.

Also, consider this — Insatiable is premiering the same week as a number of other shows that are out there, including Batwoman, Riverdale, Supernatural, and many others over on The CW. There may be at least a reasonably similar audience there when you think about it.

For now, we’re cautiously hopeful on an Insatiable season 3 but we can’t really go further than that. What the series has going for it is a signature tone and also some very funny people in its cast. However, what it has working against it is past controversy — think back to what happened leading up to season 1 — and an absence of hardly any attention or controversy, good or bad, this time around. Netflix also has more of a history than ever of canceling shows — think about what we saw with the likes of Daredevil, Santa Clarita Diet, One Day at a Time, and many other shows. While Pop ended up bringing back One Day at a Time, the general consensus is that in the event that Netflix cancels a given show, it’s not going to find another home elsewhere.

Ultimately, though, this is a situation that we’ll monitor closely over the next few weeks. Once we have more news to share on the subject, we’ll have it for you here.
