Outlander season 5 filming: The final phase begins in Scotland

Outlander season 4

For all those eager for Outlander season 5, consider this your sign that we’re nearing the finish line — filming for the final block is officially underway!

In a new post on Instagram today, Sophie Skelton (who you otherwise know for her role of Brianna) first confirmed that she and the rest of the cast/crew are at work on filming. This is a process that will take them, at least, the next month or so to complete. Unless there’s some significant change when it comes to the production schedule for the final seasons, there’s a good chance that production will be done by the start of November.

(For those who are interested in seeing briefly the front pages for the final scripts of the season, you can see them — albeit briefly — via Lauren Lyle’s Instagram Stories.)

Within these final episodes of season 5, we imagine everything coming to a head when it comes to the Frasers in North Carolina. We’re nearing the cusp of the conflict leading up to the Revolutionary War, and there is no real way in order to escape that. Even if Claire knows a thing or two about what’s coming, that doesn’t mean she can stop it. The more she showed a knack for clairvoyance, the more she’d find herself targeted for some sort of witchcraft.

The larger story question we wonder is simply this: Is there a chance for some sort of substantial cliffhanger at the end of this story? That’s definitely not something that we would rule out here, given what we’ve seen on the show in the past. Also, we imagine that it’s helpful for production that they know already that they’ve got a season 6 … and they’ve known for some time. Knowing the long-term future of the series in advance is so helpful for the overall story in general.

What do you think is going to be coming throughout Outlander season 5? Remember to share some of your thoughts below, and stick around for some other updates.
