This Is Us season 4 spoilers: Timothy Omundson playing Gregory
Tonight is, clearly, an enormous night for Omundson. This does, after all, mark his first appearance on primetime network TV since suffering a stroke over two years ago. Per Entertainment Weekly, this is also a role that was constructed with him in mind. Gregory is a neighbor of Toby and Kate’s, and the character is also recovering from a stroke much like Omundson is. Timothy has a history working with This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman, and we certainly knew that this was a show that we wanted to see him appear in at some point.
While this episode may be the first appearance from Omundson on network TV since the stroke, it’s not the first TV project he filmed. Earlier this year, the actor filmed a prominent appearance on the Psych: The Movie sequel, one that will be airing in the new year as a part of the upcoming NBCUniversal streaming service. That is still a polarizing decision, especially since there are a lot of people who would’ve preferred the series stick around on USA — the network that it first called home.
In a post on Twitter earlier today, Omundson had some lovely things to say about his return to TV:
“Kind of a big day for me … Just over [two] years ago, a stroke almost killed me. Tonight, I’m returning to primetime network television thanks to [series creator] Dan Fogelman and the great people [at] This Is Us. Hope you’ll turn in.”
This Is Us has a knack for great casting — after all, look at the work they’ve done to date! they also have on board now Jennifer Morrison of Once Upon a Time for a role that is very mysterious in its own right.
