We knew that This Is Us season 4 was looking to expand the show’s overall universe, and today, they’ve done that by giving one of their new faces a full-time promotion.
According to a new story courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter, you were going to see Asante Blackk promoted to series regular for at least the remainder of this season. If you were not aware, the actor is playing the role of Malik, the young man who we first saw in the season premiere, and someone who has a close connection to Lyric Ross’ character of Deja. We know that Malik is a young father, and a guy who is desperate to do everything he can for his daughter despite still being a teenager and a high schooler. He’s got a lot on his plate, but David takes a personal interest in him. How this plays out over the course of season 4, we have to imagine that there are some more twists and turns coming around the bend.
Malik was introduced earlier this season alongside a number of other characters. One of them was the adult version of Jack, Kate and Toby’s son and Rebecca’s grandson, but we don’t think we’ll be seeing too much more of him moving forward. Meanwhile, another was Jennifer Morrison’s Cassidy, a woman who will have an interesting connection and story with Kevin as we move a little bit further into the season.
Joining Blackk and Ross as series regulars for the fourth season are Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Brown, Chrissy Metz, Justin Hartley, Chris Sullivan, Watson, Jon Huertas, Hannah Zeile, Niles Fitch, Logan Shroyer, Mackenzie Hancsicsak, Lonnie Chavis, Parker Bates, Faithe Herman, Griffin Dunne, and Eris Baker. There are even more actors you see in various capacities on the show, but they are more on a recurring basis. This series has an enormous cast, and it needs to in order to capture all time periods!
