Outlander season 5: Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe live stage highlights!

Outlander season 4

This morning, some Outlander cast members officially descended upon New York Comic-Con for a number of different events. Later today, Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, Duncan Lacroix, Maria Doyle Kennedy, and David Berry are all taking part in a number of different events.

For the sake of this article, we’re going to discuss the Syfy Live Stage discussion that happened a little bit earlier. Check out some notable quotes below on various aspects of the story!

Caitriona Balfe, on the current state of the Frasers – “Grandpa and Grandma Fraser are doing well. It’s really lovely. We’re going to get to see them enjoy having their family around them. Obviously, it’s quite complicated. I’m not sure they both are on the same page with Bree and Roger staying where they are, but we see them as a really strong unit this season.”

Sam Heughan, chiming in with more thoughts – “This season is about family. It’s very much about the family being stronger together and torn apart [in different ways]. Jamie’s in this difficult place where he’s sided with the British, and he’s being [put] against his godfather.”

Maria Doyle Kennedy, on the Jocasta – Murtagh relationship – “What I think was really brilliant about it was that it was amazing to show passion and love between people who are older than twenty. I thought it was really great.”

Duncan Lacroix, on being able to be a major part of the show again – “There’s no road map for him in regards to the books now. I think he’s become a bit more three-dimensional as the series has gone on. He’s gone from being the grumpy sidekick … to finding more of a voice.”

David Berry, on being able to develop Lord John Grey – “What can I say? I think I’m allowed to say [I’m in season 5]. There is a lot of development for my character, a lot of stuff to do. I won’t know what to say.”

The hard thing about this panel is, admittedly, that there’s only so much that the cast can say. Even the show is based on the booked, it’s clear that Starz is very spoiler-nervous at the moment.
