Is Madam Secretary new tonight on CBS? The state of Tea Leoni series
Let’s kick things off here by getting some of the bad news out of the way: There is no new episode of the Tea Leoni series on the air tonight. What’s the reason for that? Think along the lines of NFL overruns and a desire by CBS to not kick off the final season in super-late fashion. If Madam Secretary season 6 were to premiere tonight, it wouldn’t be started until 10:46 p.m. Eastern time. That is, as we like to say a rather late time for a premiere.
When Madam Secretary season 6 does premiere, we can at least say with certainty that there is a LOT of cool stuff worth looking forward to. Take, for example, getting a chance to see Elizabeth move up to an ambitious new position in leader of the free world. The new season will pick up a few months after she takes the position of President of the United States, and you will get a chance to see her taking a look at the first 100 days of her Presidency. You’ll learn how she is as a leader, but also how the new job is impacting her family.
Why make this move? Well, a lot of it has to do with the desire to continue to make Madam Secretary a hopeful show as opposed to one that is innately depressing. The objective here for the producers is to not focus too much on the mudslinging and some of the other drama that can happen at times in the midst of a Presidential campaign. Instead, they want to show you more of the life that exists after said election — there will be drama still, but there are different stories that are going to be told. This isn’t so much about infighting among parties as it is issues impacting the entire country … and, of course, how to get the best solutions to them.
Madam Secretary season 6 will premiere on CBS next week.
