After all, just think about where things were at the end of this past season, where it seemed as though someone was going to be shot. Jerry did almost die at the start of the premiere, but the good news is that he found a way to survive. Unfortunately, that didn’t mean that he was a-okay either. A few minutes later, we saw the character in the hospital, where he was doing everything that he can in order to get better. He did admit already that his life was different after being through what he did.
At the end of the episode, Jerry admitted to the Five-0 Task Force that he was ready to move on and do different things. For example, he wants to write a book … and we’ll see how that goes. His exit was quirky and quintessential Jerry — something a little bit off the wall but also sentimental. He’s not dying, and he made it clear that he would be happy to consult here and there.
What we know we love about Jerry is this: His heart and sense of passion and humor. He is the sort of guy who brings so much laughter and joy to the series constantly … not to mention how he thinks outside the box. He’s one of the more valuable tools for off-the-wall operations that Hawaii Five-0 has and we’ve seen that already, time and time again.
The premiere episode tonight also did introduce a new cast member in Katrina Law, who turned up as Quinn Liu, a CID officer who found herself knocked down to military police. She had a tendency for breaking some rules, which is one of the reasons why McGarrett ended up wanting to bring her more into his orbit. We’ll be seeing her stick around more in a larger capacity.
