The Masked Singer premiere: Johnny Weir inside the Egg mask!

The Masked Singer

On tonight’s premiere episode of The Masked Singer season 2, we had a chance to meet characters aplenty! Some were energetic, some were quirky, and some were genuinely talented.

Yet, in the end, someone had to be unmasked. These people aren’t getting a chance to perform in their costumes forever! It’s always hard to gauge exactly why certainly contestants are sent home early, other than that they’re probably not the greatest of singers.

At the end of the first hour tonight, it was clear that the Egg and the Skeleton were the two performers who were the weakest. The Egg was unmasked! So who did it end up being? It was Johnny Weir! The Olympian was within the mask, and this was a really fun reveal in the end!

Are we glad that Johnny Weir was on the competition? Absolutely, since he is such a source of fun and positive energy. He would’ve brought it all to some of the performances down the road, but the eliminations on The Masked Singer are not predetermined. This happens based on whatever takes place over the course of the whole night.

We’ll see where the rest of the season goes, and in the end, we’re going to have a fun season ahead. At least with Johnny Weir we have the first pretty incredible celebrity out of the way. It’s the proof that The Masked Singer is, at least at the moment, killing it insofar as casting goes. This is a legitimately big name and that’s not something that a lot of other reality shows could pull at this point.
