‘Downton Abbey’ season 3 spoilers: Hugh Bonneville on keeping secrets

If you are currently watching the third season of “Downton Abbey” as it happens in the United Kingdom, then you are already probably well aware of one of the most shocking deaths ever on the series: Jessica Brown Findlay’s character of Sybil, who died immediately after giving birth during one of the episodes airing a little bit earlier this season.

So how did the actor manage to help keep this revelation a secret? Whenever you have something like this that happens on a show, this is always one of the biggest challenges that happens as a result, since one spoiler getting out can ruin almost everything that happens after it. Thankfully, this was not really the case, and actor Hugh Bonneville recently took some time out to explain why:

“We put ‘Happy Birthday’ signs up to put off any prying eyes [at Findlay’s wrap party] and it seemed to pay off.”

What better way is there to send away potential snoops? Findlay is transitioning into more of a movie career now, and is one of the ladies in contention to play the love interest in the upcoming “Captain America” sequel titled “The Winter Soldier.” She is hardly the first actor from this show to be bitten by the feature film bug as of late, and some other actors including Dan Stevens and Elizabeth McGovern are currently taking part in everything from theater to music. (There are rumors that Stevens could leave the show this year, but they are unconfirmed.)

There are still some potential stunners coming up later this season, and we will hopefully have an opportunity to find out some more about them soon … but hopefully not until after they air.

What do you think about Bonneville’s comments here?
