Madam Secretary season 6 episode 2 spoilers: Elizabeth throws first pitch
Yet, there are also some frivolities that go along with being leader of the free world, things that are somewhat ceremonial in nature. Sometimes, that includes getting a chance to appear on a late-night talk show (which Henry is doing in the premiere). At other points, that means throwing out the first pitch at a New York Mets game! While the series is mostly set in Washington, it makes sense for the producers to make the most of being in New York. (There was footage filmed of this earlier this summer, as Tea Leoni was present sporting a Mets jersey for the occasion.)
Below, CarterMatt has the official Madam Secretary season 6 episode 2 synopsis with some more scoop on what’s ahead:
“The Strike Zone” – Elizabeth faces mounting protests over rising fuel costs as she prepares to throw out the first pitch at a New York Mets game. Also, Mike B. is questioned by the Senate Intelligence Committee as part of the investigation into whether the McCord campaign conspired with Iran to steal the election, on MADAM SECRETARY, Sunday, Oct. 13 (10:30-11:30 PM, ET/10:00-11:00 PM PT) on the CBS Television Network.
Ironically, Leoni is not the only actress who has gotten a first-pitch gig over the past several weeks, as Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay also got the honor. In her case, though, it was as herself as opposed to it being a part of a TV show.
First pitch aside, there are a number of other crises that are coming within this episode. While we know that Madam Secretary will continue to look at this from a geopolitical perspective (that is the bread and butter of the show), the final season is also allotting for chances to speak towards domestic policy and a number of other issues, as well. It’s such an all-encompassing job and, at times, there may be more to it than anyone would ever realize.
