Is Queen Sugar new tonight on OWN? What lies ahead from here
Well, unfortunately it looks like the fine folks over at the network have some different plans for the drama … and those include making you wait. Last week’s installment was the finale and on the other side of it, you’re going to be waiting for a good while still to see more of what’s next. How long? Think in terms of 2020. The good news is that you at least know that you’ll be visiting some of these characters again — hopefully, through that you’ll see some of them work to get to the other side of their struggles.
If you look below, you can see what executive producer Ava DuVernay had to say about the big renewal — that’s where she also confirmed that new episodes will be coming in 2020. She thanked the series’ fans, which have been as loyal as they come over the course of the past several years.
So how much longer can we expect to see this series last on OWN? We do, luckily, think that there is some life left in the show. It’s all going to be based on how the show performs in the ratings and, to go along with that, the overall sentiments of the cast and crew. If they want to keep telling this family’s story, why not do that?
As for when you can expect to see the first batch of Queen Sugar season 5 news, think in terms of the spring. We don’t think that there is any real reason to rush things along at this point, mostly because new episodes likely won’t come until the summer. So with that in mind, we’re just going to sit back, relax, and allow the writers/producer to work their magic.
