Outlander notes: Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, and Matthew B. Roberts

Outlander - Sam Heughan, Caitriona BalfeWho is ready for the latest edition of Outlander notes? Within this piece, we’ve got new news items from Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe away from the show — and then something related to the timeline of the show itself at the end of this piece.

Let’s kick this piece off with the latest via Sam Heughan, who has wrapped up some of his weekend work on his Clan Lands project with Graham McTavish. We wrote yesterday about the two of them visiting one of the most famous Scottish places out there in Loch Ness. Now, they’ve also stopped by Inverness itself! Given that the two places are in fairly-close proximity to one another, it makes a certain degree of sense for the two to do a little bit of traveling. They’re making the most of whatever time that they have!

There is still no word on when Clan Lands is going to be available for watching/listening, but it’s nice to see that it is in the works to the extent that it is.

Caitriona Balfe’s new movie has been playing out the festival circuit as of late, and it is going to be premiering well in time for Oscars/Golden Globes eligibility. While this may be another period piece for the actress, it’s a very different sort of period piece than anything that we’ve had a chance to see with her so far. If you’re interested in learning a little more about the history of racing, this is a great project to check out!

Why isn’t Matthew B. Roberts at New York Comic-Con?

For those wondering, the executive producer confirmed on Twitter that he’ll be busy working on both finishing out Outlander season 5 and then also starting off work on season 6, which is based off of the book A Breath of Snow and Ashes.

One of the biggest takeaways from Roberts’ comment is that it seems as though there won’t be much of a break behind the scenes between the end of season 5 and then the beginning of season 6. There could be one for the cast, but there need to be plenty of script pages in hand for the likes of Sam and Caitriona when they get back to work on the show.
