This Is Us season 4 star Milo Ventimiglia books Evel Knievel gig
Today, USA Network confirmed that the actor (whose credits also include Heroes and an arc on Gotham) is going to be starring in an upcoming limited series all about famed daredevil Evel Knievel. He’s a character worthy of some sort of limited series, so what better person to play him than someone capable of playing such a wide array of characters?
In a statement, USA Network entertainment head Chris McCumber had the following to say:
“USA Network is known for big event series that celebrate heroes, rebels and icons, and what could be bigger than the story of one of the greatest thrill seekers of all time? … The incredible life and journey of Evel Knievel lends itself to a dramatic retelling, and we are excited to be partnering with Milo, McG, UCP, Atlas [Entertainment] and Wonderland [Sound & Vision] to bring this iconic American tale to our viewers.”
We know that the inevitable question that is going to come from this is whether or not we’re going to be seeing more of Milo as Jack Pearson on the NBC hit. Because of when This Is Us films, we think that there will be a big enough break for him to take this on in the off months. It’s also possible that This Is Us could accommodate him further by filming a number of Jack’s sequences all at once. We think that it will all work out — plus, Ventimiglia is a series regular on This Is Us and we have a feeling that there is a whole lot more of Jack Pearson’s story to tell over the next few years.
For example, the fourth-season premiere of This Is Us is going to focus in part on Jack’s early relationship with Rebecca, including what’s going to be coming up when he meets her parents for the first time. There are still surprises that we’re going to uncover here and there, so go ahead and be prepared for that.
