Just in case you needed a reminder that New Amsterdam season 2 was going to kill off a major character, check out the new promo!
If you look below, you see a preview that is all about the moments immediately after the season 1 finale, where the ambulance crash caused three women in Max’s life to be in danger — his wife Georgia, plus also Dr. Bloom and Dr. Sharpe. One of the three of them will not survive.

If there is any good news here, it is that none of them seem to be dead at the scene of the accident. All three women are going to be brought into the hospital — Dr. Bloom looks to be immediately the worse-off of the three, just because she doesn’t appear to be conscious. At least Georgia and Helen come into the hospital with some awareness of where they are. Yet, this doesn’t guarantee anything since there are some unforeseen consequences that could happen with any of these characters once they make it within those hospital walls.
What is interesting is comparing the appearance of Max within the promo to the photo of him above — these are from the same episode. Given that Max’s hair is combed and his beard is shorter, there’s a reasonably good chance that there will be either a small time jump in the premiere or that he finds a way to get himself in better shape. That feels like the sort of thing, though, that is easier said than done, especially when you think about what he just went through in a difficult cancer battle.
No matter what happens on the New Amsterdam season 2 premiere, we can count on this: An exceptional episode chock full of some dramatic twists and all sorts of other great stuff. If you love television that keeps you guessing at just about every turn, and also one that makes you feel things that are emotional and raw, you’re going to get it all here.
