Outlander notes: Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, and BTS fun

Outlander season 4

Welcome to a new Labor Day edition of Outlander notes! While you’re enjoying a day (hopefully away from work), why not check out some news items related to both the show and some other projects for stars Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan!

Let’s start with a fun little peek behind the curtain as to how Kyle Rees prepares to play his character of John Quincy Myers. This was posted by the actor a few days back on his social media, but it’s certainly understandable if you missed it because of everything else that has been going on in between the premiere-date news for season 5 and other things.

This video (via Rees’ Twitter) shows you the makeup transformation that allows the actor to play the character. We find this sort of stuff fun, mostly because it shows the wizardry of some of the makeup artists as they make him perfect for 18th-century North Carolina.

We know that Rees spent a good bit of time on set this past week, so expect a good bit of John Quincy Myers when season 5 comes on the air!

Prepare for Sam Heughan’s new movie – You’ve probably heard a thing or two already when it comes to Bloodshot, which he’s been doing work on in some time. According to a new report from ComicBook.com, there’s a chance that you’ll see the first trailer for the film (coming in 2020) in October. We know that this is going to be an action-packed role for Sam and a chance to showcase some different sides of himself as a performer. We also suspect that he is going to be extremely busy in the early part of next year promoting both this movie and Outlander season 5.

Could Caitriona Balfe’s new show return? – If you haven’t seen The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance just yet, it’s available on Netflix! We don’t want to give anything away about the story of it, but let’s just say that it certainly leaves the door open for more. Depending on what happens to her role (like we said, no spoilers here), we know that Balfe would be able to balance this and Outlander just fine. Recording a part like this is very manageable around everything else she has gone on.

What do you want to see on Outlander this coming season?

Be sure to let us know in the comments! Meanwhile, remember to stick around for some other news related to the show.
