Outlander season 5 February premiere date revealed by Starz

Outlander season 4

Great news for all Outlander fans — we now know the season 5 premiere date!

Today, Starz officially confirmed that on Sunday, February 16 (the network did not confirm a start time for TV viewers), the series is going to bring more of the Caitriona Balfe – Sam Heughan series to the air. This is actually a few weeks earlier than we expected it to premiere, which makes this some of the few times we’ve been surprised in that way.

If you want to see hear some of the official details from the new batch of episodes, just check out the just-released synopsis below:

Season Five of “Outlander” finds the Frasers fighting for their family and the home they have forged on Fraser’s Ridge. Jamie must find a way to defend all that he has created in America, and to protect those who look to him for leadership and protection – while hiding his personal relationship with Murtagh Fitzgibbons, the man whom Governor William Tryon has ordered him to hunt down and kill. With her family together at last, Claire Fraser must use her modern medical knowledge and foresight to prevent them from being ripped apart once again. However, while focusing on protecting others, she risks losing sight of what it means to protect herself.  Meanwhile, Brianna Fraser and Roger MacKenzie have been reunited, but the spectre of Stephen Bonnet still haunts them. Roger strives to find his place – as well as Jamie’s respect – in this new and dangerous time. The Frasers must come together, navigating the many perils that they foresee – and those they can’t.

To go along with the premiere date news, more details were revealed about the New York Comic-Con event– Sam and Caitriona are being joined by Duncan Lacroix (Murtagh), Maria Doyle Kennedy (Jocasta) and David Berry (Lord John Grey). Author Diana Gabaldon will be present as well alongside executive producers Ronald D. Moore and Maril Davis. The panel itself will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. Eastern in The Hulu Theatre at Madison Square Garden. We don’t know if we would expect the full premiere to air like it has at past conventions, but anything is possible.

It’s a little surprising that Richard Rankin and Sophie Skelton aren’t there this year, but someone has to be back filming the show!
