Bob Odenkirk delivers awesome Better Call Saul season 5 tease

Better Call Saul season 5

Bob Odenkirk has essentially spent a decade of his life at this point playing variations of the same character. He was Saul Goodman on Breaking Bad, Jimmy McGill on Better Call Saul, and for a few brief moments Gene in the future. He knows the multiple facets of this character better than anyone, and we also think he understands what makes good television within this world.

Therefore, if Bob is going to hype up some of this material, we’re going to listen. Speaking in a new interview with Deadline, the actor drove the hype train as we get closer to Better Call Saul season 5 premiering in the new year:

It’s the best season we’ve ever done, it’s going to blow your mind, and I’m not kidding about either of those things. It’s f—-ng awesome. I can’t wait for people to see it. It’s just shattering in every direction, and I love it.

Of course, an “awesome” season doesn’t mean a happy one for Jimmy McGill — we’d say to go ahead and expect the opposite. With Jimmy now deciding that he wants to be this Saul persona full-time as an attorney, he’s likely to shove away almost every little thing that is good within him. That means less humanity and a relationship with Kim Wexler that is almost sure to fall apart at some point. There isn’t all that much else that Jimmy has to lose — Chuck is dead, and his relationship with Howard Hamlin is on the brink of nothingness. We wonder just how much more story there is to tell now with the Jimmy character beyond just watching his business grow and expand — eventually, some of the story momentum here could shift a little bit over to seeing a little bit more of what happens with Gene in the future. We know Odenkirk wants to spend time there … and so do most viewers.

How do you think the stakes can be raised in Better Call Saul season 5, based on what Bob Odenkirk is saying?
