Grand Hotel episode 12 preview: The last before big finale

Want to know what’s coming up on Grand Hotel episode 12? The episode airing next week is entitled “Dear Santiago,” and it’s a big one. After all, we are talking about the last episode before the finale, and one that should answer some big questions. If nothing else, it’s going to accelerate the drama and get characters like Santiago (appropriately) in a position where almost everything is on the line. This is going to be a crazy episode, and maybe it’s going to be the sort of story that get the show that extra bump it needs.

(Yes, this is where we bring to you the customary reminder that the future of Grand Hotel is still facing a certain degree of uncertainty. We don’t know if there is going to be another season just yet — we want to be hopeful, but it’s probably going to be based on the DVR ratings and streams since the live ratings aren’t good enough to guarantee the show much of a future in its own right.

Alicia and Javi continue their mission to figure out what really happened to their mother. Santiago still finds himself bound to Mateo, as startling secrets from his past come to light.

The question we have to wonder at the moment is this: What story is going to take center stage at the end of the finale? What will the story of Grand Hotel be most remembered for? Is it Santiago, or is it meant to be more of the hotel itself? We’ve long found ourselves thinking that this establishment is at the center of everything — it motivates some characters and it haunts others.

We just hope that at least most of the stories in season 1 of Grand Hotel come to a close in the finale. That way, if there is a season 2, the story can move in a number of new directions.
