Just in case you love NCIS and want to celebrate some exciting news this morning, here it is: Cote de Pablo is not only appearing in the premiere and we are all on this train headed to Ziva Town!
Per Parade, Cote will be back in her role of Ziva David for a handful of episodes this upcoming season — think as many as four at the moment. While there are no specifics given in the report, it wouldn’t shock us if one was close to the final episode of the year, and another was the first in 2019. Another possibility is a couple of episodes in the early going (including the premiere), an episode in November sweeps, and another in February sweeps; Ziva brings ratings and both NCIS and CBS know it. Just look at the numbers for “She” if you want further proof of that.
This news is glorious since previously, the only thing that we had confirmed for certain is that Cote would be back within the premiere episode airing now in less than a month. That episode should serve to give us more insight about why she stayed in hiding for so many years and who exactly is after her? These subsequent episodes should help to further the story along, offering up more insight and maybe bringing the character closer to a more satisfying conclusion – if we have to have one at all!

We don’t think that her story necessarily has to have a conclusion at all. We’d be thrilled if Cote got to be a recurring presence on the series moving forward, even if it’s logistically tough. Eventually, you would assume that Ziva would want to be near Tony and her daughter, and it’s hard to routinely bounce between them and the NCIS office in DC. Our dream still is for an NCIS: Ziva event series — wouldn’t it be the perfect thing for a show like this as a mid-season entry or summer show? There’s so much to unpack with her with so many years of her life missing it could be a show in it’self.
Really our hope is that she would come in and replace Reeves as maybe a part time agent that is brought in for those really special cases that need someone with Ziva’s particular set of skills.
