Is Lela Loren leaving Power, & is Angela dead after season 6 premiere?
We’ll admit that when we saw Tommy shoot Angela at the end of season 5, our feeling was that this was one of those cliffhangers meant to fake you out. It feels like a good 90% of the time, the person supposedly “dead” at the end of the finale ends up making it out okay. In the closing minutes of the premiere, we saw Angela being carted to the hospital. We thought for sure that she was going to make it out of this situation.
Yet, that didn’t happened — as it turns out, Angela Valdez is dead. She didn’t make it through the shooting, and Loren is done with the show — at least in terms of being someone who is around in the present.

So why make this move? We think a big part of it has to do with the creative direction of the show and what the writers/producers want to do in order to accelerate things moving forward. Killing off Angela is a way to make the revenge plot of Ghost vs. Tommy all the more severe. Not only that, but this is also a way in which to ensure that Ghost is haunted by what happened on the show moving forward. After all, losing Angela in this way is devastating — not only that, but Ghost knows that she jumped in front of the bullet. If she didn’t die, there is a good chance that Ghost would have.
Also, we imagine that the death of a federal prosecutor, one with significant ties to Jamie, is going to have big ramifications on the show moving forward. It’s hard to imagine otherwise.
Now, we just have to hope that following her time on Power for so many years, Lela Loren is going to be able to move on to great things.
