So what is one of the biggest ones? Think in terms of Randall being able to dive more into the political world — a place where he can start to build more of a future for both himself and his family. He’s actually closer now to the people he is representing, and that comes with a fair share of benefits. Yet, at the same time there are the same sort of bumps in the road you would expect from someone in this position.
Speaking in a new interview with TVLine, Sterling K. Brown had the following message to pass along when it comes to how Randall will be doing:
“Fairly well … Being a councilman, Randall goes out of his way to make a connection to the community. He’s really excited to be a neighbor and to be a good councilman and to form relationships with the people he’s supposed to be representing.”
Watching Randall become a better councilman is going to be exciting, mostly in terms of seeing if that ends up leading to him becoming something more. We still wouldn’t be shocked if This Is Us eventually has him becoming a full-fledged Congressman or Senator … we don’t think that he is anything more than that at the time of the flash-forwards, judging from how he doesn’t have any large ensemble around him other than his family.
When it comes to Randall and Beth’s relationship, things are going to be better than they were after some of their struggles in season 3 … but there could still be bumps in the road.
