NBC’s ‘The Voice’ to square off with ‘The X Factor’ again on election week

Somewhere, Simon Cowell is probably burning a photo of for famous swivel chairs. For the second time this season, “The Voice” is going to be facing off against “The X Factor” during the week, and viewers are going to have to decide which one of the two singing shows deserve their support the most. However, on this occasion we may have to say that they are justified in doing so given how much time they would otherwise have.

Thanks in part to the Presidential election happening on Tuesday, November 6, “The Voice” is going to be off the air, and will instead have a two-hour performance show the following night, along with a one-hour results show on the Thursday that follows. This same Wednesday and Thursday, “The X Factor” will be having their second live show of their own as they try and narrow down their own field even more.

So what’s the reason for all this competition? Let’s just say that neither show wants to move too close to the Christmas holiday, and that they each want to get as big of a piece of the pie as possible for the November sweeps period. History so far shows that “The X Factor” will probably end up losing the night, but anything can still happen give that this show in particular tends to lose some of its audience when there is no one winning or stealing artists from each other. Meanwhile, “The X Factor” typically does a little bit of a better job reminding us that their artists are actually memorable from a personality standpoint in addition to being good performers.

What do you think about this news, and which show will you be watching?
