Supergirl season 5: Calista Flockhart return still possible
Speaking via TVLine, show executive producer Jessica Queller confirmed that “Calista [Flockhart] has always remained open to coming back to the show periodically, based on her schedule … [I’m] hopeful that it’ll work out and Cat will make an appearance. It could happen.” As for why Flockhart left in the first place, much of it may be due to the move up to Vancouver from Los Angeles, where it filmed for the first season. Supergirl also drew much higher ratings on CBS than on The CW, and there were a number of changes that went along with that move.
Nonetheless, Cat remains an integral part of the overall Supergirl lore. We are talking here about someone who was an original cast member, a mentor for Kara, and a major force within National City running CatCo. Since her departure, it’s been difficult to sell other people being in her position — James Olsen has taken on the role alongside Lena Luthor at times, but Cat had such a specialized amount of experience and had that knowledge that came from building that company up from the ground up.
While it’d be nice to see Cat in the Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover (after all, everyone else under the sun is showing up), we don’t foresee Supergirl really heading in that particular direction. Instead, we’d actually prefer her just be around on an episode more organic to the central story itself of Supergirl. It doesn’t even have to be a premiere or finale; we’d almost prefer it to be a standard episode in the middle of the season that can revolve more around her and we can get more in the way of consistent airtime for her.
Supergirl season 5 premieres on The CW later this fall. If you want to get more news about it now, we suggest that you head over to the link here.
