‘The X Factor’ UK notes: One Direction, MK1, Christopher Maloney

This time around on our “X Factor” notes, we are focusing entirely on what is going on in the United Kingdom … and for pretty good reason considering that the latest live show just wrapped up airing less than 24 hours ago as of this writing.

One Direction’s new single art – Following the release of their hit “Live While We’re Young,” the boy band from two seasons past (who are now among the biggest acts in all the world) has just released the art for their newest song “Little Things.” It’s certainly charming in that it shows off the boys doing what they do best when it comes to their album covers: relaxing, and enjoying each other’s company. However, we do have to wonder if this group is ever going to change any of their traditions here whether it be the “1D,” the fonts, or the mere layout of everything. The one thing that Simon Cowell has been smart to do, though, is ensure with every cover that the boys are front and center.

Is MK1 angry? – Now, we turn to the latest “X Factor” conspiracy theory. Was MK1 hurt during the result show Sunday thanks to a faulty phone line? It was a bit of a surprise to see them go home based solely on this, and one of the band members in Sim claims that they spent most of the day leading up to the results confused:

“We just couldn’t understand what was going on last night, a few hours before our performance we got a lot of tweets from our fans telling us that the voting line for MK1 was frozen and they couldn’t vote for us so we were getting really worried. In previous series, when that tends to happen, the act goes into the bottom two and may leave the competition.”

While the duo is grateful for the experience, they also blasted Gary Barlow and Nicole Scherzinger of talking through their save-me performance while they were quiet and attentive for Kye Sones.

Is Christopher Maloney really the favorite? – Now, we turn to interesting speculation. According to the Daily Mail, the leading vote-getter for the first two weeks of the competition was not Jahmene Douglas, James Arthur, or Ella Henderson; it was wild card Christopher Maloney. We’re not full sure we beleive this, but the report also said that Jahmene came in second both weeks.
