MasterChef season 10 episode 20 video: A one-pan mystery box
Entering this episode, one of the things that we know is that an elimination is coming … after a mystery box. That’s how we know that this challenge is severe. You’re fighting for so much more than just immunity, and you’re having to do is in a challenge that is very different from some others we’ve seen.
What’s the general theme of this one? It’s really so simple as trying to create the perfect dish using just one pan. That’s a tough thing to do, given that you have to figure out every little component that goes into it. It’s about the mix, the ingredients, the flavors, and making sure that you time everything out properly. Depending on the order that you place the ingredients in, it’s very well possible that something goes wrong and you’re left with some chaos on the other side.
There is going to be a guest judge coming on board to help in the proceedings — think in terms of Daphne Oz. She’ll be there to help examine some of these dishes in terms of their flavor and originality … with the help of all of the other judges, as well.
If there is one thing that we’ve learned about the show at this point, though, it’s to never believe that anyone is safe going into an upcoming challenge. Anything can happen at any moment, and that’s why you can’t feel complacent for a single second that you’re in there. We’re getting near the end of the season, though, and that’s how you know that the tension is going to be ramping up. Maybe early on in a competition like MasterChef, you’re there for the notion of the experience or to meet the judges. Yet, by the time you make it to around the final eight, that’s when you are going to put all of your energy into trying to win.
