New Amsterdam season 2 trailer hints at character death

New Amsterdam season 2 will be coming to NBC this fall and, to go along with that, so will one of the saddest moments of Max Goodwin’s life.

In the new trailer, the network reveals that one of the key women in Max Goodwin’s life will not survive the ambulance incident that happened at the conclusion of the first season. For added clarity here, we’re talking about Dr. Sharpe, Dr. Bloom, or his wife Georgia. They were the three in the highest degree of danger, and we don’t really think that we know how any of them were at the end of the finale. We know that medical dramas can turn the tide at just about any moment.

If we were to theorize, we would say we’re the most worried about Georgia — she’s the character who is the hardest to find consistent storytelling for. Max losing his wife would be an enormous blow after she’s been there for him throughout his cancer battle. She’s also not a main character on the series and doesn’t work at the hospital — all of that suggests that she would be the easiest character story-wise to remove from the equation.

With all of that spelled out, we also need to consider the possibility that the New Amsterdam writers may be intentionally trying to trick us by making us think that the Georgia character is the easiest to kill off; then, they make another move instead. We don’t think you can guarantee anything right now, other than that season 2 is going to be an emotional one. We hope that Max gets on the other side of his cancer battle, and if he does that, there’s still going to be enough storytelling for the series to have a good bit of weight to it.
