BH90210 episode 2 ratings fall hard following premiere
The entire premise of this show is wacky and we definitely know that it can be an acquired tasted for some — but it’s going to need more stability the rest of the way to fight towards a season 2. Last night’s episode drew a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic, down more than 40% from the show’s premiere audience. We do think that people who watched the second episode probably enjoyed it — they know what the show is at this point and there may be smaller drops because of it. While a 0.9 rating is not the sort of number that signifies a show become an instant hit, it is a really strong rating for summer television. That’s enough of a strong rating, in fact, that the show will almost certainly come back for more if it keeps that up.
Remember this, as well — BH90210 is probably also a solid performer when it comes to DVR views and streams. The majority of the people who grew up on the show are all still within that target 18-49 demographic, and are also probably the sort of viewer who will catch the show after the fact on a streaming platform. It’s probably going to be fine, especially if it continues to do these fairly-short seasons. That will keep the demand up for more, and it gives Fox something that they haven’t really had since the first season of Wayward Pines — a solid summer scripted show that gets people talking. While they may make some money off of these game shows, they’re not the sort of thing that build up big audiences after the fact.
There are still four more episodes to go in BH90210 season 1, so we’re going to monitor those and come back with more discussion after the fact.
