Arrow season 8 episode 2 spoilers: Tatsu Yamashiro (Katana) returning
As first reported by Green Arrow TV, Rila Fukushima will be coming back as this character for episode 2, which carries with it the title of “Welcome to Hong Kong.” While the circumstances surrounding the return are still a mystery, bringing this character back is a way to reference what feels at times like a forgotten era for this show. Season 3 was an era where the Oliver – Felicity relationship was still blossoming, when Ra’s al Ghul was the Big Bad, and when the series was getting more into mysticism than at any other point. This is where the Lazarus Pits started to become a big part of the narrative and in some ways, we should be thrilled — otherwise, there would be no returning Sara Lance and with that, Legends of Tomorrow wouldn’t be quite the same. Also, season 3 introduced us to Ray Palmer, another now-notable part of the Legends.

At the end of season 7, Oliver traveled with The Monitor on his new mission, a likely precursor to the events of the Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover event. This could be a journey through time or presumably different parts of the multiverse. It’s all going to be preparation for what is the biggest battle to come. We’ve heard a lot in terms of returning characters (think Superman and Lex Luthor, for starters), but also that the big bad in the Anti-Monitor is the most dangerous foe that the entire Arrowverse has ever faced. They are capable of the destruction of worlds and, in the comics, they commit acts that eliminate more people than most other source material combine.
Consider the return of Tatsu just scratching the surface for what will likely be many notable returns coming up down the line. We’ll see what else the writers have cooked up soon enough!
