MasterChef season 10 episode 17: Fred Chang eliminated
At the start of this episode, though, it was clear that not everyone was going to be forced to cook. Subha, in fact, was the only member of his team from yesterday’s episode! The challenge for the judges here was two-fold — do you judge based on the best overall dish, or penalize someone who didn’t use one of the ingredients as well as they could have? It was a difficult position for the judges and because of this, they found themselves forced to make some difficult decisions.
As we get into the results portion of the night, Subha was ironically one of the first people declared safe alongside Noah, Shari, and Nick! Bad news for Micah, who made the decision to put Dubha down into the bottom in the first place.
In the end, Bri found herself in the bottom two with Fred — her best friend in the competition. Bri has long been an excellent plater throughout most of the season. While she didn’t include anywhere near enough of the truffle, she did enough to stick around. Fred Chang ended up being eliminated, and he did get quite a gift from Gordon Ramsay — a chance to work alongside Christina Tosi. It’s not guaranteed, but Gordon claimed that he would put in a call. That’s a great start for a guy who could have a great future in food, especially when it comes to baking. That is where he shined all season, though he did flex some of his savory-cook muscles along the way. He got better and better there as time went along.
