Is Siren new tonight on Freeform? Season 3 expectations

Siren - Freeform

Is Siren new tonight on Freeform? Given the way that last week’s new episode concluded, it only makes sense to be interested in more. When are we going to see some more stories that aren’t some terrifying/bizarre dream sequence?

Unfortunately, it’s not going to be tonight — or the remainder of this year, either. There is no Siren on the air tonight, as last week marked the epic season 2 finale. You’re left now to wait until spring to know for sure what’s going to happen … but we have something to tide you over until then. Consider this CarterMatt article your source for some of our first season 3 expectations and where we’d like to see the story go moving forward from here.

Mermaid babies!

So season 2 took a deep dive into the dwindling mermaid population as well as the troubles they are having repopulating. There hasn’t been any new baby sirens in a long time, but that’s something we would love to see the show’s take on! Bring on the mermaid babies!

While Ryn wasn’t implanted with one of her embryo’s because of Ian kidnapping her, Brian’s wife was and going into season 3 we are very curious to see how a mostly human and small part mermaid can handle growing a full blown mermaid in her. What are the complications going to be? Will she be able to survive the pregnancy? And mostly how pissed off is Ryn going to be when she finds out her baby was stolen!? This is a storyline we can’t wait to see play out.

As for a story we could do without – the mermaid cult. We loved Helen learning about her history and what happened with her family, but this mermaid cult is a bit weird and that’s saying something for a show that’s about mermaids.

Ryn, Ben, Maddie

This trio had some really rough moments in season 2, especially when Ryn found out that Ben was related to the family that tried to wipe out her species. The thought of losing Ryn and her trust really caused him to spiral. Ben and Ryn have worked it all out (with Maddie’s help) and they seem to be happy together once again, but Ben is now harboring a huge secret – he had the chance to save Ian and left him in the car to drown. He didn’t tell Maddie or Ryn about it and we expect going into season 3 that a secret like this, is going to send Ben on a mind trip like he’s never been before.

We know why he didn’t tell them, but couldn’t we see them understanding why he made that choice? We like to think they would be behind his decision – hiding it from them though is never the right path. Didn’t he just learn not to do that with what just happened with Ryn and hiding who his family is from her? On the other side of this we want to see Ben growing into his relationship with Maddie and Ryn and trust them more. These are two very strong women, they can handle it. Also, this show works best when these three are a team and on the same page together.

The military

They aren’t going anywhere going into season 3, not now that they’ve had actual studies done with a mermaid. Add to that the fact that Ben, Ryn and Maddie stole the embryos and we expect the military to stop playing nice with them. We could see them posing a real threat to Ryn going into season 3 – just taking her and making her disappear, pretty much what they’ve done with Chris and we are assuming with Nicole. We expect this storyline to continue to heat up.
