Grey’s Anatomy season 16, Station 19 season 3 crossover romance plan

Grey's Anatomy season 16

Is there a chance at a Grey’s Anatomy season 16 – Station 19 season 3 cross-show romance? There’s a good chance of it!

According to TVLine, there is a potential subplot involving characters from both shows, but there were no specific names handed down insofar as characters go. This is technically something that the two shows already have, given that you have Bailey over on Grey’s Anatomy and then also Ben from Station 19. This would be a different sort of romantic subplot, one where you’d see the beginnings of a relationship that spawns between the two shows. With Krista Vernoff running both series this year, that probably makes the communication and plotting of the two stories a little bit easier.

To go along with this, ABC programming head Karey Burke also clarified some of her recent comments about whether or not there will be a crossover between the two shows every week that Station 19 is on the air. (Remember, it’s not coming back until midseason.) To put things bluntly, that is not something that is actually in the works:

“I did not intend to say that every week there would be a crossover [event] … [Instead, there will be] several [Grey’s/Station 19] crossover events … To do a crossover every week would dilute the special nature of them. I think it’s going to be three or four peppered throughout the season.”

That feels a lot more natural, since it does seem like there would be occasions where the two shows would end up crossing paths. However, it wouldn’t be so often that each show would be unable to have their own individual story. You want each one of them to have an opportunity to have their moment in the sun, and for them to find their own story and their own audience. We think that they can do that, and the crossovers here are almost rewards for people who do decide to check out the two shows over the course of a single week.

If you missed it…
