Outlander season 5: Will other casting announcements come out soon?
Thanks to some new announcements courtesy of their respective agency, Leonard Cook and Mark Barrett are two of the most notable names who are now on board the hit Starz series. While it’s not entirely clear who either actor is playing, it’s nice to know that there are some new actors on set adding to the excitement and the scope of what’s coming. Season 5 is based on the Diana Gabaldon book The Fiery Cross and it will premiere in 2020. That is one of the reasons why Starz hasn’t released any official casting intel at the moment.
So when will we have a chance in order to hear more? Think a little bit later this year. If you think back to last season, the network confirmed many of their new characters at the same time, save for Ed Speleers as Bonnet and Maria Doyle Kennedy as Jocasta. (Those two castings were announced early.) They will probably do the same thing here with roles for Cook and Barrett and then many others.
There is still one more question that we’re left to wonder here, though, and it goes a little bit something like this — why does Starz do things this way? We wonder this mostly because it feels like individual casting updates would get the show more press throughout the offseason. Maybe they’re doing this to keep spoilers at bay for as long as possible, or maybe they just don’t feel like individual announcements generate that much more publicity than they’re going to get anyway.
Do you know the expression that less is more? We get that, but at the same time we do think that in this case, more is more. The more announcements and info we get, the more excited and prepared we’ll be for season 5. We don’t think many castings, out of context, equal a bit spoiler for what’s coming.
