NBC’s ‘The Voice’: Cee Lo Green on season 4 exit, Trevin Hunte, season 5 return

Just in case you wanted some extra confirmation about a return of a beloved coach to “The Voice” next year, here it is: Cee Lo Green will be back. Unfortunately, you are going to have to wait until the fall to see it happen.

In an interview on “The Today Show” Friday, Green started things off by confirming something that pretty much every person familiar with this show knows: that in order to work on some other music and television projects (including a pilot he is developing with NBC), he is going to take a little bit of time off from the show that has made him into a bit more of a household name. While away, we are going to see another pop superstar in Usher fill his famous swivel chair while Shakira does the same thing for Christina Aguilera. We’re guessing here that this could lead to Adam Levine and Blake Shelton taking time off for season 5 next fall, but this is mere speculation and has not been confirmed.

Also in the interview, Cee Lo explicitly mentions Trevin Hunte as one of the contestants this season that he feels is a potential front-runner, and he admits (yet again) that he made one of the biggest mistakes he has made ever since joining the show in putting him up against another singer in Amanda Brown who was way better than he initially thought that she was based largely on the strength of her own blind audition.

The battle rounds continue on “The Voice” Monday, and the live shows are going to start up in a matter of weeks now. Are you a fan of anyone on Cee Lo’s team?
