Chicago Med season 5: Colin Donnell on saying goodbye
Maybe it will also be a comfort to know that while this is the final appearance for Donnell on Chicago Med for now, it doesn’t have to be forever. Speaking via TV Guide, the actor made it clear that there is always a chance for more — and we’ve seen via his Arrow reprisals that Colin will come back shows after departing them:
“It was an emotional couple of days shooting, saying a lot of goodbyes to a very close-knit family there, but it was really nice to do it, and it was a great way to wrap up this chapter of what that character is … We haven’t closed the door firmly on a return or an appearance in the future, but there is a lot of things that are wrapped up in that episode.”

Is Norma Kuhling also returning?
While it hasn’t gotten as much press as Colin coming back, Norma’s post on Instagram last week makes it clear that she was on set — and also in costume as Ava Bekker. We take this as a pretty clear sign that we’re going to get some closure on this character as well.
As for how Ava and Connor’s time on the show ends, it feels like it could be chaotic. The implication from last season is that Ava may be responsible for the death of Connor’s father; after that, we don’t know how you come back from that in the long-term.
