Yellowstone season 2 episode 5 spoilers: Jamie’s got more trouble

What’s happened with Jamie on Yellowstone season 2 episode 5 this week? Let’s just say that he’s put himself in another pickle, but it’s one that also puts his family in a larger degree of jeopardy.

In a new sneak peek for Wednesday night’s new episode (which you can see over at the link here), you can see Jamie confess to Beth that he has “painted himself into a corner” that he can’t get out of. It involves a certain reporter, and it also just so happens to involve something that happened when he was angry at John Dutton and running his campaign for Attorney General. What’s the problem? It’s the subject matter of said interview, since it could prove to throw some of Jamie’s own family under the bus and threaten to undermine everything that they’re building towards.

While Jamie may have come back to his family in order to get absolution for some of what he’s done in the past, some wounds don’t heal that fast. As a matter of fact, when Beth hears about this betrayal, she doesn’t just get mad — she gets physical. Jamie wasn’t right for the Attorney General election (he wasn’t willing to do some of the shady stuff that needed to be done in order to win), but he’s also not right for his own family in a lot of ways. John and Beth both are fierce fighters who will do whatever it takes. Jamie’s just not that guy and that doesn’t make him a bad person. It just makes him a different person.

Is there still a way for Jamie to earn redemption for speaking out about his own family behind their back? There’s a way to make it happen, but it probably will take some time … and that in itself could mean Jamie having to do some more things that aren’t a reflection of who he is. This is what makes this situation so rough on him and we’ll have to see exactly where some of the smoke clears in the end. It’s not something that will be resolved in just a single episode.
