Mayans MC season 2 will have sizable Sons of Anarchy presence
Today at the FX series’ San Diego Comic-Con panel, one of the things that was revealed was that you would be seeing many members of the famed MC from the original series that started it all. This makes sense given the potential war between the Mayans and SAMCRO that is brewing. At the end of season 1, we learned that Happy is responsible for the death of EZ Reyes’ mother and while the incident may be many years back, that isn’t going to make the sting any less significant. It’s still going to be something that we see these characters working through and we firmly expect it to be a major part of the narrative.

The same goes, of course, for the central battle at the border moving into the new season. There was some footage shown off today of the new premiere, and with the production choosing to head down to Mexico, there’s a chance for even more authenticity and to show off parts of the world that we don’t see enough of on American broadcast television. What makes Mayans MC so great is its look at a particular culture, one that is rich, developed, and not so stereotypical or cliche. There are characters within the Mayans that we don’t believe you’re seeing anywhere else.
In terms of big plot spoilers, the season 2 panel was light on it — save that the new episodes are going to be even darker than what you saw the first time. (Given that season 1 was certainly dark, that’s a cause for some nervousness.)
Mayans MC season 2 will premiere on FX in early September, so there will be more time to share other specifics about what lies ahead. For more now while you wait, check out the link here to read our trailer analysis.
