SDCC 2020: How Outlander, American Gods will be represented by Starz

Outlander season 4We’ve known for a little while now that Outlander will have a presence at San Diego Comic-Con this year. The question that remained was simply this: What sort of presence it would be?

Today, Starz confirmed that their booth at SDCC is going to feature “epic moments” from their time-travel drama alongside two of their other favorites in American Gods and also The Rook, an excellent new series that you should be watching if you’re not already. As for what this means, it claims that the presentation will allow you to see moments “like you’ve never seen them before.” Does that mean some sort of immersive viewing experience? Virtual reality? Weird photo ops? Props from the shows arranged in interesting ways? That’s all up in the air.

If you’re on the convention floor, you can have a chance to check this experience out. The booth will also be there (#4029, just look for the navigation numbers while out on the floor) through the remainder of the convention. Starz is going to be giving away some “fandom survival kits” — whatever that means. Maybe they give you a way to travel through the stones?

While we know there’s disappointment over the lack of an Outlander panel featuring the cast this year, hopefully this helps to compensate for it … among other things. If you head over to the link here, you can read more about a fan panel that is returning with some great discussion of both the show and Diana Gabaldon’s books. Even if the cast and producers of Outlander aren’t there, both the fans and Starz itself are looking to give you lots of great stuff over the next few days. It won’t be forgotten about.

If you haven’t heard, the reason why Outlander isn’t doing a cast panel is because everyone is still working hard on the fifth season of the show. We’re in the thick of filming at the moment and it won’t be wrapped up for many months still. There’s a better chance that the cast will appear either at New York Comic-Con later this year or WonderCon in the early spring. We’re hoping for the latter selfishly, given that it’s a 30-minute drive from our neck of the woods and we are there every year.
