Who is the best Arrowverse hero? Barry Allen, Nia Nal, Felicity Smoak, Nate Heywood (round 1)

Arrowverse

With many shows in the Arrowverse already at work for the new season, all of us at CarterMatt thought today would be a good time for us to bring you a fun new series! Through the next few weeks, we’re going to have a fun little tournament  for everyone all based around one simple question: Who is your favorite hero of 2019?

Let’s start by noting this — there are many different definitions of a hero within the Arrowverse. They don’t always need an alter ego or a comic-book costume in order to make their presence felt. What matters the most is that they actually fight to save the day rather than work to destroy a better part of the world.

We’re going to be focusing on sixteen different characters throughout this series (four from Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow) and in this piece, looking at Barry Allen, Nia Nal, Felicity Smoak, and Nate Heywood. At the bottom of this article is a poll for you to vote for your favorite! Two will be moving on to the next round.

Voting Rules – Voting will remain open until Tuesday, July 16 at 3:00 p.m. Pacific time; the advancing heroes will take part in round 2, which will begin on Wednesday, July 17. You can vote however often you’d like; for more technical information if you’re having issues, check out the bottom of this article.

Barry Allen, The Flash – What we’ve seen from this character over the past five years is someone who is ambitious, passionate, determined, but also surprisingly relatable and empathetic still. He’s not your typical tough-guy hero and that’s long been a part of his appeal. While Barry’s flawed like the rest of us, we’ve seen him be romantic, endearing, and willing to go the extra mile to protect anyone and everyone he cares about.

Nia Nal, Supergirl – She is one of the newest heroes within the entire Arrowverse but in spite of that, we’ve already gotten a sense of her heart, why she loves much of what she does, and also her unusual powers as Dreamer. There’s still so much more we have to learn about her, but through the past handful of episodes we understood how empathetic and how willing she is to take on whatever responsibilities are thrown her way.

Felicity Smoak, Arrow – While we have technically seen Felicity before in costume throughout the past seven years of the Arrowverse, she’s more known for her work behind her computer. Felicity is transcendent in a lot of ways to these shows as one of the first people to prove that being a hero comes in many different forms. She’s been Oliver’s rock and beyond that, her computer skills have allowed him and Diggle to have a chance at success in many missions. We can’t overstate her value as a hero enough.

Nate Heywood, Legends of Tomorrow – Was season 4 of the Arrowverse’s great underdog show the real breakout for Nate? We’d argue so, in between meeting his father and then mourning his father and falling in love with Zari. All the while, Nate was desperate to help defeat Neron and ensure that the timeline was safe from demonic entities running amok and causing all sorts of chaos. (That closing scene with Nate and his dad in the finale was waterfall-inducing.)

Now, let’s turn this to you

Who is your favorite Arrowverse hero in this batch? Be sure to share in the comments, and come back soon for some more updates.

I can’t see the poll; what do I do? – If you are on mobile, scroll to the bottom of the page and click to view the non-AMP version. If that does not work, give the poll a moment to load! On some mobile browsers, it may take a moment.

How can I vote more than once? – If you are having trouble casting multiple votes, try switching your browser, your device, or visiting the page under private browsing or incognito mode. There should be many handy guides online explaining how to do so if interested.
