Dove Cameron remembers Descendants co-star Cameron Boyce (video)

Dealing with loss is a difficult subject — it’s not something that everyone can tackle the same way, given that it is something that is so personal and specific. While the public knew Cameron Boyce, at the same time Dove Cameron knew a different version of him. She knew Cameron for the person that he was as opposed to some of what was out there in the press are on TV.

Dove and Cameron knew each other for a number of different reasons, and of course, a big part of it is the two of them working together on Descendants. The Disney Channel movies became an overnight sensation from the moment that they first came on the air. This is a project that led to the cast and crew traveling all over the world doing press together and making memories. They were a family and that is what makes losing someone like Cameron so tough.

If you look below, you can see Dove give her first emotional statement on the loss of Cameron and you can see just how difficult it is for her. She admits that it is difficult in order to reconcile the private nature of losing him to the public demands that go along with stardom. This is one of the challenges that comes along with fame, where there is unfair pressure to say something even though you’re probably struggling to say anything in your life away from the camera. Dove even admits in her video that she is posting this after spending some time in therapy.

The healing process is a long, difficult one, and we can only hope that everyone out there does give Dove some of the time she needs in order to heal and mend. She may speak more about it later, but it has to be on her own terms.
