Big Brother 21 live feed spoilers: Sam learns about grandfather’s death

There are some Big Brother 21 updates that are more serious than others, and this one qualifies for that. While we’ll talk a little bit about game in the paragraphs that follow, the news pertaining to Sam is the most important event in the house this afternoon.

The Diary Room clued Sam in on the news this afternoon, and he immediately received love and condolences from the other houseguests. Even if they hate each other here and there in the game, they all understand the difference between this and life. Sam winning the Veto suddenly comes secondary to the pain that he is feeling in the house. It does also put him in a position where he needs to decide if he wants to remain a part of the game; we wouldn’t blame him either way, as it is a decision that he needs to make for him and his family. We know that he was there primarily with the purpose of giving them a better life after some tough times.

Technically, the person who died was his wife’s grandfather, but he was very close to him and it’s one of the reasons why he got into trucking.

Sam did get some information as to how his family was handling it and if it’s like past seasons, the show likely delivered him the news and the form of a letter from home. The moment that he saw a letter in there for him in the DR it put a pit in his stomach and knew that it was going to be bad news. This is not the first time that this has happened to houseguests during a season; back in Big Brother 16, both Derrick and Frankie both lost grandparents while they were in the house. It’s never easy, but these are the sort of events that will bring this house a little more together and give them a sense of shared empathy.

Later today, there were plans for there to be a birthday party for both Jack and Kemi, and we imagine that they will turn into a celebration of life alongside something for the two of them. It may be a different vibe tonight than what we originally expected, but we will be here in order to take it on whatever transpires.
