For those excited for Arrow season 8, here is another reason to possibly be: New costumes are entering the world!
In a post on Twitter, show executive producer Marc Guggenheim confirmed that there will be some new looks featuring at least a couple of characters — he also confirmed in a separate tweet that the two costumes featured in the tweet are in fact different ones. Changing costumes has been a part of Arrow for many years; it’s almost in the fabric of it, if you excuse the incredibly-corny pun. Sometimes, the costume changes may come for functional reasons; other times, it’s just effective to give the show a fresh coat of paint. It also probably looks good for the sake of evolution to feature a number of different looks for some of the different characters.
While a possible new costume for Oliver or some other characters is cool, we recognize that this isn’t going to be enough to satisfy a lot of people out there who are hoping for more in the way of concrete final-season scoop. That’s still under lock and key and fittingly so, given that there’s no reason to give something away before Comic-Con. With Oliver departing with The Monitor at the end of season 7, we absolutely do have questions revolving around how so many other cast members factor into the story, how much time Oliver is spending with the supporting cast, and also how the story is going to set up the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths. There is also the question here of how exactly we’re going to see the show wind down in the big series finale. Eight years is a long time to tell a superhero story and we’re glad that Arrow has had the run that it has. Without it, superheroes on TV probably wouldn’t be what they are right now. It’s been able to revolutionize the genre and we’re incredibly excited to see some of what’s coming as the story winds down.
Oh, and of course there’s also this question: Who from previous seasons of the show is going to return for more?
