We’ve all waited a long time for Scream: Resurrection, but the good news is that this wait is just about at an end! The movie event kicks off starting on Monday night and judging from the new trailer, it’s going to be thrilling … and also terrifying. This is hopefully going to be the homage to the original that so many have been waiting to see.
Don’t get us wrong, as the first two seasons of Scream brought plenty of great things to the table including plenty of scares. We’re just hoping now that season 3 is going to find a way to elevate things to another level. It feels likely that they’ll be able to thanks to some of what we’re seeing below — think along the lines of the return of Ghostface in the iconic mask, plus a cast of great performers, some unique characters, and even cool cameos. We’ve already shared a sneak peek featuring one of them in Paris Jackson; we’re sure that some more surprises are buried underneath the surface.
The one thing we’re ultimately hoping to see more than anything else is just decent viewership — and that’s going to be a challenge. While the quality is here for Scream: Resurrection without a doubt, the challenge is that there aren’t going to be a lot of people out there even aware that the show is coming back. It’s been years since the first two seasons aired, it’s on a new network in VH1, and it was also only recently announced. There wasn’t a whole lot of time for anyone to promote it and because of that, there may be a lot of people oblivious of the fact that it’s back. We’re not sure if there is any chance at all at a Scream season 4, but anything to boost the show’s ratings is something we’re going to be happy about.
If you’re a horror fan, or just have a familiarity with the original source material, perhaps Scream: Resurrection is right up your alley. If nothing else, it’s giving you a chance to see something that isn’t altogether prevalent anywhere else on TV this summer. Variety can often be very much exciting this time of year.
