The Rook episode 2 will be arriving onto Starz tomorrow night and judging from the latest promo, there is a lot to expect — think along the lines of drama, twist, turns, and other surprises.
In the premiere episode, we were introduced to a young woman by the name of Myfanwy Thomas, someone intent on surviving and reclaiming much of what she lost. Her memory isn’t what it once was and she finds herself stuck, left to question elements and part of herself that are not entirely clear. She does have clues and messages from her past, but there is no guarantee that these will be there to help her reclaim everything. There could be a stopping point.

There’s also two other elements of this story that add to the sense of danger — the fact that Myfanwy, like so many other people at the Chequey, have a certain number of powers and abilities. And, there’s also the issue of members of this organization effectively serving as double agents to a different cause. There’s no way to know who to trust and in the first season, we’re going to see characters hunted and tracked down for purposes unknown. Whether or not Myfanwy makes it out of this alive, or with her sanity still intact, are a couple of things worth wondering about and focusing on.
Even if you don’t know anything about the source material, we do think that the promo sets the stage for a fascinating show about identity and doing what you can with what’s been given to you. For Myfanwy, we don’t think answers are going to come her way one right after the next. She may find a few answers, only to then, soon after that, run right into a brick wall. This is one of the most ambitious new series of the summer; we only hope that it lives up to some of the hype.
