American Princess episode 7 preview: Preparing for ‘The Tempest’

american-princess-review

Following tonight’s two-hour block of episodes, American Princess episode 7 is airing on Lifetime next week. Hopefully, the folks over at the network are using this scheduling to try and drum up enthusiasm for the series or to provide a lot of content so that people can binge-watch it and really get into it. Personally, we’re just confused as to precisely what they’re going given that it’s a little unusual to air one of the new episodes after 11:00 p.m. Eastern. Probably a mystery for a different day.

So where is the series going to go from here next week? Well, we’re getting the perfectly titled “The Tempest” next week — it’s Shakespearean, right? Despite the dangerous-sounding name, The Tempest is actually listed as a comedy using some of the Bard’s most binary of definitions. This episode serves as an opportunity to see just what happens at the Renaissance Faire when the weather makes attendance borderline impossible. Think about how miserable that’s gotta be — most of the “roads” at these festivals are dirty and there aren’t exactly many period-appropriate umbrellas that are easily accessible.

Anyhow, CarterMatt has the official American Princess episode 7 synopsis below with more news as to what’s coming:

When rain washes out the festival day, Amanda and David get to know each other better; Maggie revels in Amanda’s failures; Brian wallows in his heartbreak; Delilah holds on to a secret.

Now is when we make our plea simple

Watch this show. We’re already concerned that this is a series that won’t see the light of day for a season 2, even though it’s easily one of the best shows that is out there this summer. It’s funny at times, but it’s the strength of the writing and the characters that stands out. It’s not often we get to say this given that there are about a trillion or shows out there at any given time now, but American Princess isn’t like any other show that’s out there at the moment. Maybe there aren’t enough viewers who would enjoy it aware of it, but we don’t want to get to a point where we’re reliant on some streaming service to save it after the fact.

Check it out, and check it out live. Even if you don’t love Ren Faires, you probably at least understand what it’s like finding your own group of quirky friends who understand you in a way that nobody else does. That’s really what this show is about more so than anything else, with the Faire and some of the characters serving as a fantastic backdrop for it.
